What is the difference between this and the cheaper group tour?
This one is private from the start — your own vehicle and driver for the day — and it visits four places rather than three: Madaba, Mount Nebo, the Baptism Site and the Dead Sea. It is listed at 10 hours.
Are entry fees included?
Only if you select that option when booking. Entry to all the sites and the Dead Sea resort swim with lunch are both listed as optional upgrades on the booking form.
What is at the Baptism Site?
Bethany Beyond the Jordan, on the east bank of the Jordan River, is the UNESCO-listed site traditionally identified as where Jesus was baptised. You visit on a site shuttle; the river itself is narrow enough here to see the far bank a few metres away.
Is there a dress code?
Yes, at Mount Nebo and the Baptism Site — cover shoulders and knees. Wear comfortable shoes: the ground at both is uneven, and Madaba means walking on stone floors.
How early does it start?
Ten hours means an early pickup from your Amman hotel, usually between 8am and 9am, returning early evening. In summer the earlier the better: the Dead Sea shore is roughly 400 metres below sea level and holds heat.
